The Mariahilfbild in Innsbruck Cathedral is one of the most famous depictions of the Virgin Mary in the Alpine region. It was painted by the Renaissance artist Lucas Cranach the Elder (1472-1553). If you walk carefully through Innsbruck, you will find copies of the painting on numerous house facades.
The Innsbruck City Archive/Municipal Museum tells the story of this remarkable depiction in the small, fine exhibition "Oh, Maria hilf".
From 3 May, there was also a unique opportunity to see the original painting by Lucas Cranach.
